Two powerful handsets from two impotant manufacturers have made their intrance on the smartphone crowded market. Samsung Galaxy Note is a huge device, looking more like a tiny tablet with its enormous yet bright 5.3-inch capacitive touchscreen. Samsung Galaxy Note is great to use it as a notepad to plan your most important events thanks to its built-in S Pen.
Motorola DROID Razr is a very stylish and eye-catching Android-based smartphone, different from what we’ve seen on the market. It’s incredible thin with only 7.1mm and uses a sturdy metal body on the back, featuring a unique form factor from current devices. It is visually smaller than the beast Galaxy Note that features a similar design to Galaxy series. At first glance, Motorola DROID Razr has a stylish element to its construction in comparison with the classic Samsung Galaxy Note.

Regarding the display, Samsung’s 5.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is larger than Motorola’s 4.3-inch screen, which is also using the same technology. Still, Samsung Galaxy Note has a better resolution of 1280×800 pixels and a higher pixel density in comparison with Motorola DROID Razr that has also a good screen resolution. Be sure that both will deliver clear and clean visuals. They are also protected by Gorilla Glass technology.
In terms of camera, both feature a rear 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash plus a secondary front-facing one for video calls or self portraits. Both cameras have extra features such as geo-tagging, image stabilization or touch focus and they capture videos at full HD.

Looking at the processor, Samsung Galaxy Note uses a 1.4GHz dual core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with Samsung Exynos chipset, the same one used on the popular Galaxy S2 plusĀ a Mali-400MP graphics procesing units which is one of the best on the market. It is faster than Motorola’s Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 processor, still dual core and clocked at 1.2GHz, the same as the Galaxy S2 or Nexus Prime.
There is also 1GB of RAM foe each smartphone, while the storage capacity is a little bit different. Samsung Galaxy Note comes with two versions: 16GB or 32GB on board and can be expanded via a microSD card slot up to 32GB. The Razr, on the other hand, includes 16 GB of built-in storage space, which has also an additional microSD card slot to expand the memory.

Software wise, both handsets run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, being possible to get Google’s new version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich anytime soon. Still, Android 2.3 is a good version of OS that provides a great multitasking experience, web browsing and comes with a large array of apps available on the Android Market. Samsung Galaxy Note comes with a few extra features such as a barometer sensor or TV-out.
Motorola DROID Razr is currently available on the market for $300 with a new two year agreement. For this huge Samsung Galaxy Note, you’ll have to wait a little bit more, because it is expected to hit the market in early 2012.
