Two of the most slimmest Android smartphones are head-to-head in a battle of performance and design. Don’t know what choosing? Xperia Arc from SE with its innovative look or the beautiful and classic LG Optimus Black? We’ll give you a hand by presenting the specs and comparing them, so you can make the right choice.

First of all, we’ll take a closer look to the design. Both devices are beautifully manufactured, stylish, elegant and very slim. In terms of dimensions, Xperia Arc is taller measuring 125mm and very slim with its 8.7mm compared with Optimus Black which is smaller with its 122mm, but lighter with only 109 grams than Optimus Black 117g.

Going on to the display, the Xperia Arc shows off its large 4.2-inch LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen with a resolution set at 480 x 854 pixels display and Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology, while the Optimus Black includes a 4-inch LCD , featuring the same resolution.

If you’re interested about the camera, the Xperia Arc comes with a performant 8MP camera on the back plus HD video recording capability, compared to the Optimus Black which has only a 5MP rear camera with autofocus, LED flash plus 720p HD video capture and, unlike the Arc, it does feature a secondary front facing cam with 2MP for video calling.

What about the processor? If you’re looking for dual core processor, none of these two handsets feature something like that. LG Optimus Black comes equipped with a 1 GHz processor and 512MB of RAM, while the Xperia Arc includes 1GHz Scorpion processor, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon and the same capacity of RAM. As for the storage part, the Xperia Arc comes with 320 MB of onboard, while 8 GB is supplied as standard, being expandable up to 32GB via a microSD. On the other side, the LG Optimus Black has a roomy 2GB built-in memory and supporting Micro SD cards up to 32 GB.

The software part is similar for both Android phones. They run on Android operating system with two different versions. Xperia Arc runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, while the LG Optimus Black has Android 2.2, upgradeable to 2.3 (Gingerbread). As for the connectivity section, they have Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, EDR and DLNA.
