This year at MWC in Barcelona, Samsung succeeded to impress everyone with the new successor of the Samsung Galaxy S, the slimmest and powerful Galaxy S II. While there is no info revealed regarding its launch or price tag, many people are tempting to get their hands on the smartphone. Don’t know what choosing? This recently announced Galaxy S II or the huge Samsung Infuse with its large 4.5-inch display? We’ll compare them for you to see which one perform better.
Let’s start with the design, where we see two elegant, sleek and slim devices. Although the dimensions for the Infuse haven’t been announced yet, we know that the Galaxy S II is slimmer, having only 8.49mm and lightweight, weighting 116g. It can also be observed than the Infuse is taller thanks to its larger touchscreen. Described as a “Galaxy S”, Samsung Infuse uses a textured matte rear cover, better than the glossy plastic of the original Galaxy S, but not resistant enough as the metallic shell we find on the Galaxy S II.
Moving on, you can admire two beautiful displays. In the left corner we have the Galaxy S II featuring a a 4.27-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED Plus and in the right Samsung Infuse stands with a larger 4.5-inch touchscreen, 480 x 800 resolution screen and boasting the same Super AMOLED Plus technology that increases the image quality up to 50%. So, it’s clear that Samsung Infuse is the winner of this section.
What about the camera? Samsung Galaxy S II comes with a rear 8 MP camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording accompanied by a 2MP front-facing camera, while Samsung Infuse features the same 8 MP camera but a smaller second one with 1.3 MP up front, for video calling. They are almost identical with the same features, so we can’t say there is a winner on this category.
The processor is highly important because is a CPU designed to save power for your smarthpone. We find on the Galaxy S II a speedy and performant 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9processor while the Infuse relies on a 1.2GHz single-core Hummingbird processor, not so great as the one for the Galaxy S II, but powerful enough to run fast all your apps. As for the storage, the S II comes with 1GB of RAM while for the Infuse are not available yet.
Regarding the software, Samsung Galaxy S II is expected to come equipped with the latest version of Android OS, 2.3 Gingerbread while the Infuse will run Android Froyo (version 2.2). You can expect the usual TouchWiz skin 3.0 on the Infuse, while Galaxy S II has an improved version of interface, TouchWiz UI 4.0. Both devices will have great pre-installed apps offered by Google.
In terms of connectivity, the new version of Galaxy S comes with super-fast HSPA+ connectivity plus Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 3.0 and the Infuse promises 4G HSPA+ connectivity plus Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n; DLNA and Bluetooth 3.0.
